Handmade Guitars Sound Better... Or Do They?

I started off with the cheapest, nastiest guitar (if you could call it that).

The C.A.N. special (cheap and nasty).

Over the years I've tried a variety of guitars, but settled for the rich, unique sound of my bellman handmate guitar.

Have you ever considered how much effect humidity, or the lack thereof, has on your handmade guitar? It probably has a more dramatic effect that you may think.

Keeping your guitar humidified in the winter is very important.

There are several types of guitar humidifiers available on the market from about $10.00 and up.

They usually just hang down inside the guitar body in between the strings. You can also get a nice German made hygrometer that can be manually calibrated, so that you can accurately monitor your house or guitar case.

But enough about humidifiers, let's talk about my love of guitars... Please!

My love of stringed instruments started many years ago as a kid.

I remember playing (or trying to play) smoke on the water, a classic song to learn on guitar.

After several months of playing me $5 special, I longed for a more full sound so I began searching for the best sounding guitar.

Handmade guitars offer guitarists the best in playability and sound. A handcrafted guitar offer many more benefits than a factory built guitar and we will explore them.

After much searching, I had an electric handmade guitar made for myself and want to share some thoughts on my experiences with you.

The guitar I had built to my specs was a beautiful Australian made "Belman" deep emerald green, double cutaway grand archtop electric.

Along the way though, I played a heap of guitars, including silvertone guitars, goya guitars, Stratocasters and rose guitars but the bellman was my first handcrafted guitar. And I still have it today.
